What’s New in Dermal Fillers?

It seems that every month a new dermal filler gets FDA approved and more are in the pipeline. The largest groups of dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid fillers. Fat injections seem to be losing popularity.

All have their own limitations. Perhaps the most popular combo is a dermal filler combined with Botox.

The following dermal fillers are currently awaiting FDA approval:

Evolence is a dermal filler produced by a company called Colbar Life Science. It is a collagen based product. There is a bioactive substance that is assimilated and incorporated into the dermis. It appears to last up to 12 months.

Other new products on the horizon are Elevess by Anika Therapeutics. This is a hyaluronic acid filler with lidocaine to diminish pain upon injection.

Mentor, the implant manufacturer is coming out with a new dermal filler which is called Preville & Preville Plus both of these are hyaluronic fillers. The plus also contains lidocaine to help minimize the pain on injection.

The Merg Company is also coming out with a new hyaluronic acid filler called Belotero.

The choices to come will be many.
