Recipe for Disaster

It has always been my number one priority – patient safety.

I am always amazed what people can do to themselves. I once had a patient who was driving home in the wee hours of the morning after consuming more than a few beers. He crashed in a ditch and cut his forehead. He went home – still numb – and proceeded to suture his forehead with dental floss using one of the needles he uses to suture his hunting dogs.

Well, a lady in Homewood, IL died after injecting her face with HOT BEEF FAT.

Apparently she had done this before. She developed an infection in her face and mouth and presented to an emergency room.

Due to the unusual circumstances, an autopsy was performed. The final report said she died of peritonitis or an infection of her abdominal cavity. Regardless it is a tragic occurrence. One can only sit back and say why?
