NEW TEST FOR ALZHEIMER’S

Here's a new blog message from Dr. Robert Brueck, Fort Myers and Bonita Springs plastic surgeon

Pharmaceutical giant, Eli Lilly Company, recently got approval from the FDA for a new Alzheimer’s test.

The test relies on a chemical called florbetapir which is injected into the patients body. This radioactive substance also known as Amyvid will stick to the characteristic amyloid plaques found in Alzheimer’s patients. The chemical is injected followed by a PET (positron emission tomography) scan.

The cost of the chemical is about $1,600.00. A lot of money. But what isn't when it comes life-saving developments?
