Psoriasis - a possible risk factor for diabetes

As a plastic surgeon in Fort Myers - Cape Coral (Lee County) FL, I constantly monitor the medical literature for new information about developments in healthcare. This is another example of what we learn each day.

New research shows that psoriasis may be a  risk factor in developing diabetes.  The study appeared in the Archives of Dermatology.

Psoriasis has been linked to strokes, heart disease and some types of cancer.  The study showed that the more severe the case of psoriasis was the greater the likelihood of diabetes.  Patients with psoriasis have a higher resistance to insulin.
