MY FAVORITE FLAVOR
I guess we are all creatures of habit. Certain things we like and well others, not so much. We have our favorite flavors-come Christmas time we like pumpkin spice coffee or cinnamon spice. Cinnamon is one of my favorite flavors. Cinnamon has been around in Eastern & Western cultures for over 1,000's of years. It has been used for nausea, bloating, dyspepsia & even colic.
However new research on cinnamon has been uncovered with many "NEW" benefits. One area cinnamon helps is in maintaining stable blood glucose levels. Also in those subjects who had blood glucose levels studied, they found body fat decreased by 0.7% and lean muscle mass increased 1.1%
Another area of benefit has to do with triglyceride levels, LDL (low density lipoprotein) and cholesterol. Patients who took 1,3 or 6 grams of cinnamon daily for 60 days saw their levels of blood lipids decline. Another benefit was stabilization of systolic blood pressure.
The key ingredient? Poly phenols. Cinnamon contains poly phenols which are strong antioxidants. Antioxidants reduce the damage done to our bodies by free radicals.
So Christmas is almost here and time to stir our tea or coffee with Cinnamon sticks.
